Achievement through Collaboration Multi-Academy Trust  is committed to a policy of equal opportunities. We respect and value cultural and religious diversity and will not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, religion, culture or disability. Each individual is assessed on merit alone. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Bowland High is a co-educational secondary academy based in Grindleton, near Clitheroe in Lancashire, for students aged 11-16. It is a non-denominational school.

Bowland High overlooks the River Ribble and Pendle Hill from an elevated position.

Values and vision

Bowland High believes that because it is a small school, it is much easier for staff to get to know all pupils. The whole school community is able to understand the specific needs and interests of individual students and to monitor their progress. The secondary school aims for its pupils to thrive in a secure environment, where students learn from each other as well as from their teachers.

Bowland High prides itself on being a school founded on mutual respect and responsibility, with high standards of behaviour. It considers itself to be forward-looking, but it is also proud of and true to its heritage.

Ofsted report

“All pupils progress to further education, employment or training as a result of exceptional careers advice and guidance. Staff give wholehearted support to pupils to enable their transition to the next stage of their lives. Pupils are taught to respect people from other backgrounds and to treat people fairly. They are actively encouraged to make a positive contribution to society. As a result, they are exceptionally well prepared for life in modern Britain. Staff training programmes encourage staff to be reflective practitioners, always looking to further improve.”
